Spatial data analyses

Analyzing and visualizing geographic information makes up an essential part of our day’s work. H&W carries out a variety of GIS analyses in the area of nature, species and landscape conservation, evaluating landscapes using landscape structure measurements such as fragmentation measurements. We also create habitat models and calculate the visibility of construction projects using 3D analysis in order to assess their impact on the landscape.

Geographic information systems are also used on a daily basis for analyzing and visualizing spatial data. GIS analyses enable us to show changes in landscapes, discover conflicting land uses or establish the basis for regional planning issues.

We have developed the data models and data bases used by «Biodiversity Monitoring Switzerland» (BDM) and «Long-term Monitoring of Species Diversity in the canton of Aargau» (LANAG), still carrying out comprehensive data analyses for both projects.
